Freedom From Drug Addiction
"Wow! What a miracle it is that I'm even here!"
This testimony is completion of God's work in my life as written previously:
As I testified before, God set me free of drug use through Bob Bassler as
His vessel. My testimony doesn't stop there.
Sin has consequences. I was unaware that because I took drugs from my work they filed charges with the Elkhart police. I found out a year and a half later because the police showed up at my job at a nursing home with a warrant for my arrest. I was handcuffed and taken away in front of all my co-workers and residents. I was taken to the police station and booked with 4 Felony D charges. I was humiliated and devastated. I called my husband and he bonded me out after I spent 8 hours in the Elkhart jail. The next day it got worse. The media decided to make this worthy of front-page news with my mug shot in the newspapers. It was on the local news channels on TV as well, twisted in the worst possible way.
I was facing a possible 12 years in prison. At first, I didn't want to go out of the house because of fear of what people would think at my Church, in my neighborhood, my friends, and my family who didn't even know what happened until the media chose to "tell" them. I decided, however, that I wasn't going to let fear take over my soul. God had set me free and I chose to be faithful to Him. I continued to go to New Life Recovery every Friday. I had court hearings and was able to plea bargain down to one Felony D. I was found guilty, but at the sentencing Bob Bassler came to stand by me since I had been faithful in coming to meetings regularly for over a year. The Judge took his statements into consideration. He decided to lower my charge to a misdemeanor A, due to my invoslvement with New Life Deliverance Center and the testimony on my behalf by Bob. If I would have had a felony on my record, my nursing career would have ended. I thank and praise His name for having mercy and compassion on me. Satan wanted to destroy me, but God fought for me. The unseen battle was won through the blood of the Lamb.
I was delighted to be a speaker at one of the NLDC banquets. On top of this miracle, I had a near death experience following childbirth a few months later. I almost hemorrhaged to death and they had to do an emergency hysterectomy. They never did figure out what caused the hemorrhaging. I spent 2 weeks in the hospital and received 12 units of blood and blood components. I was not expected to make it through surgery and the Doctor gave my husband a poor prognosis, but today I stand victorious and stronger than ever. I feel the best I have in years. I was falsely accused of taking Narcotics again at my job, based solely on my past, but that was found to be untrue. God has given me a true peace that He is with me whatever may come my way as long as I stay faithful and obedient to Him. I have no desire to be snared or entrapped in that mess again!
God has truly set me free. I know He will continue to guide my steps.
Proverbs 3:5-6.
